Drive in Sci-Fi: Bride of the Monster (1955) Brideofthemonstermoviep

Havent written a review in some time. This is because we had an offence in Eve-Online, invading a wormhole space and evicting the locals to claim the space for ourselves, which took well over a week, and during this time i was deprived of any movies due to need to be on ventrilo the whole time. So im suffering just as you are without my reviews (no seriously, does anyone even cares?).
Onto the review we go then.
This is one from Ed Wood. staring the now aged and desperate Bela Lugosi and Ed Woods callingcard actor Tor Johnson. This is the second movie in a quadrology That goes: Jail Bait, Bridge of the Monster, Plan 9 From Outer Space and Night of the Ghoul. Normally i would start with the first movie in the series, but i could not get Jail Bait from all the usual sources, and i really cant go out and pay 30 dollars on shipping from USA for a possibly awful movie with the earnings in this country. So ill only do the 2-4 in the series, who can be obtained more easily.
Some crazy scientist played by B. Lugosi watches his octopus in a tank attack a local hunter. However the other hunter shoots the monster multiple times (and i mean like 10 times, reloading each time) till et gets attacked by T. Johnson playing the scientists hunchman. He gets strapped on the table and experimented with. Hes trying to create a man with strength of 20 men, but so far his experiments end up with dead people. The man dies and the scientist is obviously upset about it.
A local homicide detective notices the disappearance of two people and decides to take the case and find out who the killer, media nicknamed "the monster" is. A newspaperwoman that claims its a monster goes out there to prove her point about the monsters, and so the policeman must follow to ensure her safety, albeit unwillingly. Some "monster expert" also offers his expertise to search for what is happening in Lake Marsh (nicknamed Black Death). The police accept his help as this case is obviously hard to solve, after all, 12 people have died there already and they got no leads. or rather, they disappeared and only their belongings were found. So everyone off to a place that killed 12 people, awesome.
The scientist kidnaps the reporter and keeps her, but he does not experiment on her. The mute servant wants to help her but the doctor gets him out by beating him with a whip. Meanwhile the expert arrives at some old abandoned house, that looks like the same house the evil doctor is living in. However it does seem deserted. He meets the doctor and wants to lure him for the government, where they will allow him to do whatever he wants to continue his research. But he does not want to return, because he feels insulted that 20 years ago they didnt like his ideas. There is a suddenly very emotional scene one that only Lugosi could provide, even in his old age he has not lost his talent, and easily drags the whole film upwards. He wants to create a master race of atomic people to rule the world. He wants to rule it himself, not give the power to any government. To which the expert replies "Are you mad?" and he reminds him how he was called mad before. Then he kills him with his super enchanted octopus.
Finally the doctor tries to experiment on the woman, but the henchman disagrees with him and they get into a fight. The police reporter meanwhile finds an entrance to the secret layer of the doctor. The doctor submits the henchman and tells the woman will be "the bride of atom age" and this is as close as we come to the "Bride of the monster" in this film. As things progress the henchman hits down the doctor as well as the policeman and saves the bride. However the doctor does shoot him multiple times. The henchman does not seem to care about it at all. He only cares about the woman. She is afraid of him however.
The experiment works for the first time as the doctor becomes a sumerhuan, wrecks the place and kills the henchman. the cop escapes and chases after the doctor who has stole kidnapped the reporter once again. Other officers show up at this point and they chase him. he drops the girl and then gets shot repeatedly over and over again. Then they roll a boulder nicely placed nearby on him and that kicsk him into the swamp with his own creation - superstrong octopus and he gets killed by it, with the help of some lightning that causes a mini atomic explosion in the area, iven that he was irradiated man you know.
And in the end we get the "he tampered in gods domain" quote and it just leaves us at that.

Story: 8/10. the story was infact quite good and well executed.
Acting: 4/10. Bela Lugosi is good as always, but the rest of the crew is really not up to par.
Sound: 1/10. Very badly done soundtrack and the voices arent well palced either, but that may be due to very cheap production.
Sci factor: 3/10. Atomic radiation making super-humans? nothing we havent seen before, but the way they go about it is meh.
Lasting Appeal: 3/10. 3 for Lugosi, 0 for the rest.
Overall rating: 4/10
