we begin with a lecture of all religions representing underworld that is uninhabitable. he goes on to explain that there are many theories about how we live inside earth. he goes on to explain that we are going to see a fiction movie, a fable. yeah like we didnt knew that. has the people in the 60s were really that scared that you had to tell them it was fiction?
In Asia a group of archaeologists finds a ancient tablet that seems to be in Sumerian hieroglyphs and it refers to Sharoo or something like that being the king. Looks like a great discovery. but the happiness is interrupted by an earthquake. Since we dont know what part of asia this is this could be normal occurrence. the earthquake caves in their digging and they are set back for months, it also destroys the tablet. They find an oil lamp that also seems to be Sumerian. It seems to tell the story of Sumerian Noah's ark. It fell from top of the mountain when the earthquake occurred. Description tells them that a group of people escaped the great flood by going to the mountain. so they decide to go look for more.
an expedition that seems to take like 20 people goes into the mountain. the plan is to get to a plateau that is before the snow cover but they end up showing them walking on snow. wtf.
On top of the mountain they find ruins of a Sumerian temple. One of them falls down a pit and the rest starts climbing down to help him. by the looks of it the pit is so high that he is surely to be squashed into a pool of mush really. They find him but hes dead. So out of 20 men expedition there are magically 5 left and one is dead now. their climbing causes a cave to start collapsing and trap them inside. and it kills another one. They go looking deeper as the way back is now a pile of rocks. what they notice is that the tunnels are man-made, so Sumerian must have done it.
They find a large cavern that looks identical to the outside of temple, except that its underground, has light and has a city. looks like temple of Ishtar is an underground city. Since they are tired they decide to go to sleep. instead of say looking for an exit? while sleeping a lizard-like creature digs its way out of the sand. the creatures kidnaps the people and drags them into the sand. apparently they are put into some sot of prison where there is existing civilization here. They dress real bad though. Apparently Sumerian have survived underground here without extinction. the scientists seems to be pretty laid out about it though. They also speak English! They speak to Sumerian and their spiritual leader seems declares that they must be burned. So they fight thier way out of there against a large army of soldiers. During thier escape they find out that their flash light makes them blind so they use it. They people evolved to live in those caves and the body of one of them that seems to have died from the light. they go on discussing what do those people eat when the monsters steal the body again.
They go on exploring again and they find the monsters working in slavery to Sumerian. Thats a nice society they have down there, with all the peculiars. monster kills another explorer and now theres 2 left. The locals think the flashlight is light of their goddess. they invite the people into thier homes and treat them like gods, but the priest is plotting against them and second guards to kill them and snatch the "cylinder of holy power". they continue searching for an exit however.
The slaves or Mole People as they are called plans a revolt and kills the captain of Sumerian. They are captured and put in shackles, but the explorers free them. so the king decides to sacrifice his women instead. Warning: during the ceremony a fat chick dances weirdly. The priest finally poisons and seizes the flashlight, but the mole people start a revolt and the priest fails to use the light. During the revolt door is broken and they see eye of ishtar, that actually is a way out. they take the girl with them and escape the place leaving all Sumerians to their death from the mole people. Infact the next earthquake collapses the mountain on top of them and kills the girl.
Story: 6/10. pretty decent story they had with Sumerian culture.
Acting: 5/10. Average is the best way to describe it.
Sound: 3/10. It was pretty bad.
Sci factor: 8/10. They worked pretty good there and a lot of things they done correctly.
Lasting Appeal: 7/10. Sumerian civilization living underground - hell yeah.
Overall rating: 6/10.
