The Giant Behemoth (1959) Thegiantbehemothmoviepo

After atomic bombs are being tested, the radiation are being kept in plankton, that is eaten by fish, and then brid, thus making radiation build up in animals. At the same time old fisherman dissipaters and his daughter along with a town drunk goes to search for him. they find him dieing form radiation poisoning. They also find a giant shit that burns.
Scientist find out about the event in the small fishing town and discuss whether to go investigate or not. One decides to go while other is opposed to it and stays. The town folk have stories to tell about a while cloud underwater moving around and fish being washed out. Apparently the scientists are from atomic energy commission. finally movies got that right. In Fact this movie goes to great lengths to keep historically accurate. Of course scientists find nothing in location, but decide to check the whole beach, because you cant be too careful. They find a fish with huge amount of radioactivity and a glowing orb inside it. radioactivity doesn't shine, and the doctor does notice that, so + 5 points for good doctor.
They go investigate once again and this time they find what looks like a giant snake that is radioactive. He gets called back to port so they evade the confrontation. The army is notified an d it notifies whole world about the discovery. Meanwhile the monster rampages on land. So a sea monster is now walking on land? did he grow legs all of the sudden, well, apparently he did. he eaves footprints, larger than a car.
Anthropologist tells them that it should be 200 feet large and he goes on helicopter hunt. He finds them monster while others look at it in radar room and does not see it. The monster decides to blow up the helicopter and make people in radar tower totally blind. Apparently the monster can evade radar due to its eletro-radioactivity. They send in a battleship to check it out, like one dead cruise ship is not enough.
The monster approaches London and wrecks ships in Themes. the monster is also surprisingly good looking and not just a zoomed in iguana like in Some movies. The police tells the people about it but they dont believe them. The scientist think it cant be exploded because that would make whole city full of radiation. they decide to speed up its radiation death. torpedo will do the trick, it will go into the beast and introduce more radiation into its mass. The monster decides to go on land to attack people. and he successfully kills people with his radiation. Then there is a way too long monster chases people on foot scene. i guess they had to fit into that "at least 80 minutes" time-frame. Even the scientist opens his mouth and says "how long will it be", obviously, to another meaning. Meanwhile back at London its monster VS electric poles.
And then the movie seems to drag unnevessarely as a submarine tries to aim for the monster to hit him with. ofc this is supposed to be dramatic, but its not. They shoot the monster eventually, hit it and it dies. and at the end as they get into a car they hear a news report of mountains of dead fish in the shores of america, its starting there now too. and it ends there, wait for sequel, for 60 years Very Happy

Story: 6/10. IT was fine story even though it lacked a bit in some scenes where it felt like they were just passing time.
Acting: 5/10. not bad but nothing wonderful either.
Sound: 0/10. i got headaches now.
Sci factor: 9/10. they really worked on that one. Once again British prove they were smart.
Lasting Appeal: 3/10. quite forgettable movie really, if only for the well done facts it should be out there.
Overall rating: 5/10.

well this one wasnt anything spectacular, if you want more interesting check The Crawling Eye for example. Some movies i review are good, some are bad, considering how they made it back then, most are bad. this is nothing unexpected.
