Drive in Sci-Fi: Giant From The Unknown (1958)

They come into crazy old town full of Indians and townfolk is complaining about strange things happening at farms. buildings destroyed, cows mutilated, ect. A drunk Indian gives them a warning but sheriff decides to ignore it and tell everyone to be on a lookout. Apparently someone was murdered too. An archaeologist comes in town just in time to do some research. They all jut have to pick the right time. There also seems to be a persona duel between the local sheriff and one inhabitant who likes to hike in mountains..... He apparently came to look for a 500 year old dead giant. wouldn't he have rotten away by now, i mean, its 500 years, even for giant. We also find out its bad luck to drink wine from a water glass. never heard that one before. So the local shows the archaeologist his rock collection and hes more fascinated by a lizard. They find a cross of stone and decide that Indians were influenced by Christians. no they havent. Christians advent invented cross. in fact crosses are found as far as palaeolithic period, way before any thoughts about Christianity ever existed. beside, the cross they found wasnt even called Christian till around 700 AD. They go to devils crag (whatever that is) to investigate it and cop shows up throwing all kinds of insults, but hes shooed away with a permit. hail archaeologist. So they go searching for stuff with metal detectors.
When he finds nothing in the evening, just after one day, he decides to give up. And while they discuss how sad it is the scientists daughter finds something. why does old scientists always travel with young and beautiful daughters. Doesnt the woman have a life of their own?
Anyway they find a dead person in full metal armour digged 8 feet under. the theory is they all died from epidemic and was burred with everything in mass grave. what a deduction from having couple dead bodies in same location. is that how scientists work? no wonder they cant decide do we have a global warming or not. the scientist wants to get out of here asap for some reason, evne if he did made a major discovery here. however its not up to him as he keeps on finding more stuff, he finds a giants stuff that they were looking for, but no giant himself. meanwhile the good inhabitant that helped them manages to get hooked with the daughter, as always. but before they go to second base the giant spooks the girl and she... shoots her bed. they do notice however that giants armor is gone.
So the giant goes to town, litteraly, and attacks a young girl. i think the intention is he rapes her from the sounds, because the screen fades to black. Still a intended or not rape in the 50s is a rare occasion. sheriff comes up and arrest the young archaeologist helped for murder, that the giant actually did. thats some nice deduction from the sheriff too. but the young boy is smart and he talks sheriff into going to the old Indian. they expect him to have stolen the items, but instead finds empty shack. and the Indian hanging on a hook killed. whole the boys are taking a ride the giant returns to camp and grabs the archaeologist. Then he chases the girl, but i cant really call it a chase since he is so eternally slow that she could have out-walked him. instead she faints and the giant grabs her. so the archaeologist and his young now escaped friend makes a run to chase giant, and the whole town chases them. it would have been easier if they would just told the sheriff perhaps?
Instead they decide to explain it at the camp, they go hunting, save the girl, trap the giant, blind him and kill him. no hes not dead actually hes just wounded and trapped. so the kid goes in alone while the others are camping. hes in bad luck as he finds the guard dead and the giant gone. the giant hurts him but hitting it 3 times with a shotgun scared him away. so they chase the giant into small house and it starts snowing all arond for no reason. fighting the giant they mandge to throw him down a waterfall nearby, which just happens to be nearby. so the guy can take shotgun rounds but cant take the fall of waterfall? but we do get an explanation that it falls into a volcano crater that noone knows the end of. a giant cant swim then?

Story: 4/10. ok, but nothing big.
Acting: 3/10. not too great, usual for 50s sci-fi.
Sound: 2/10. we are back to the awful music.
Sci factor: 2/10. a old Spanish conqueror that is suspended for hundreds of years under a rock comes to life and starts killing/raping people?
Lasting Appeal: 5/10. (intended) rape scene in 50s!
Overall rating: 3/10.
