Drive-In Sci-Fi: The Giant Gila Monster (1959)

The music is like from a bad circus act in here, but then a group of kids tries to buy and old car from a guy with a hat full of feathers (?????) but he wont sell. how that has anything to do with the monter noone knows. So he goes on to build his own car??? and all "grown ups" think hes troublemaker except one. he seems to be able to build that engine in two days too. then we see a slaesman beign eaten by a crocodile that upclose looks like a lizard. not much happens. the goy helps some drunk guy and he gives him a 40 dolalr tip. then they get the car out of a ditch. and thne a giant lizard manadges to make a oiltruck fly off the road with his tongue. wait what??? how the hell did that happen. and then we are back to the buy trying to hit on a girl. then we see his sister learning how to walk after operation. then he goes singing about mushrooms with a banjo. this movie is so random. and everyon but the cop and the booy seems to be drunk in this movie.
Evnetualyl they figure out on thier own that there is a giant lizard out there caused by salts in water. they decide they should warn everybody but instead the boy goes to dances and starts singing (AGAIN) while the cop getsback to station and thne some higher up forces him to arrest the boy for borrowing cop car tires. once the cpo gets there the giant lizards attempts to get inside but his head gets stuck in the wall. so they all go out and shoot him so he could have better acess to them. yeah like a bus sized lizard can be wounded by bullets. he retreats tohugh. the boy has a plan. apperently besides building a car hes also been making nitroglicerine in his shed. according to him - enough to blow up whole town. is he a 50s terrorist or something? home buitl cars, home built bombs, he msut be some wunderkind. they somehow know where to search for him and go into a house he attacked. The circus music comes back as he attacks the lizard which seems to not mind. he rams the car into the beast and it explodes. teorrirism evidence - annihilated. so is the movie. The End.


Story: 2/10. so many random things happening!
Acting: 4/10. Not that bad but still pretty awful.
Sound: 2/10. The voices were alright. the lizard walking sound was funny and the music was like a bad 30s comedy.
Sci factor: 1/10. giants appear because of minerals. right.
Lasting Appeal: 1/10. not really.
Overall rating: 2/10.
