Drive-In Sci-Fi: Creature From the Haunted Sea (1961) Creature_from_haunted_sea_poster_01

The opening scene is cleaning boots! that should already show what kind of movie this is. Ends up in a chase between a guy with clean shoes and somone who tries to kill him. This reminds me of bourne somehow. We get the main character narating the movie, a trick rarely seen in these times. It starts to feel very bond-like. mind you this is 1 year before first Bond movie - Dr. No - was made. Then we get some cartoon sequence introducing all the cast and so on, another thing you wont often see in these movies. We also got backstory of cuban revolution! Then he sails into the sea with a group he wont shut up about. it tries to make a grim backstory for characters that most likely all die in next 10 minutes. Then after finding out, as he states, nothing at all, he makes a radio of pickle and hotdog and reports there is nothing to report. then he gets discovered and has to eat his own radio. After half hour we finally get to a point where somone kills something to "immitate" the monster. too bad the real monster gets there aswell.
They get chased by cuban coastguard who are just a bunch of men with dark glasses. and obviuosly being americans on a pleasure trip they shoot them. so they intentionally steer the ship into the clifs and land in abandoned island, while another man dies from the "monster". this is getting wierder and wierder. he finds a phone in abandoned island and charges from his phone in washington to call to cuban bar to tell he knows something but cant tell. yay. then we see a man walking on water! One of ship guys who can immitate anymal voices talks with a local of sorts via animal sounds and brings food. instantly chickens show up and a hut appears.
eventually we get to a part where they dive tos earch for a box lost in the crash. and another cuban is killed in order to hide it. for a movie called "creature from the haunted sea" it sure isnt doing most of the killing.
10 minutes till the end the monster actually decides to show up and attack somone! and during the last 2 minute he just slaughter everyone but two person who escape from via small boat. then the monster opens the box and takes the gold! thats one greedy monster!

Story: 4/10. It was wierdly unusual. and it even had a plot other than "mosnter attacks". well really there were "monster attacks" for only last 2 minutes anyway.
Acting: 5/10. it isnt that bad actually
Sound: 4/10.
Sci factor: 0/10. this was totally insane. here it gets a big bad zero.
Lasting Appeal: 2/10. if only for the way the story was told and the wierdness of some scenes.
Overall rating: 3/10.
