Drive In Sci-Fi: Monster On The Campus (1958)

so this is where college student slashers were born. hehe not really.
well, there is a scientist who is obsessed to have faces of all stages of human evolution. and there is a student, well, lab assistant, who brings his large dog too. he brings the doc a prehistoric fish that is a million years old. well, specials that haven't changed for missions, fish is new. the dog goes crazy and attacks his master. he also instantly grows HUGE teeth. Doctor tells them its not rabies but asks for saliva sample anyway. the palaeontologist tells all about those teeth being prehistoric.
So they go on to handle the fish and taking it by his mouth! bits himself when putting it down. he also uses fishes rotten water to wash it off. a true medical doctor, lol.
on his way home he becomes primitive creature and attacks his lady. by the time others get there he is back to normal and so is the dog. he murders the girl though, hangs her by the hair (and she dies from that? wtf?). they find different fingerprint on the woman's body so they let him go. they also think about why the dog reverted but they spend more time theorizing that civilization is a short-term state for humans instead.
The officer comes back again asking if he remembers anything. he also tells that official version is the girl died of fright. Well technically you cant "die of fright" but you can get heart attack from fright induced chemicals and there is a medical diagnosis for "death from fright" too so we will let this slip. The policeman even puts a bodyguard on the doctor thinking it was personal attack on him that failed.
We also see a blood sucker fly suck some blood of the fish and grow the size of firefly. the fish obliviously returns animals back to prehistoric proportions. Then they find crystallized bacterial on the fish, but instead it happens to be alive again. the fly becomes even larger. they lure it in with light and throw a net on that. it becomes really huge though. accidentally some blood from the firefly drips into the mans pipe. he then smokes it. Told ya smoking kills, idiots. The firefly reverts back t normal size in the meanwhile, however professor becomes a monster this time. He kills his body guard now, but luckily the effects are temporary again. in the morning hes a man with drapes instead of clothes and they find footprints of his beast version.
Lab class shows up in the afternoon while the doctor is looking at the fish. he lets the class go. When everyone is about to call him mad he proves that the fishes blood can throwback species back to prehistoric times. Turns out this happens due to radiation sterilization. that sterilization is real and is used even nowadays. fish is irradiated to kill bacteria and stop rotting so you could eat them a month later. He quickly figures out that he is the monster all along due to the injected blood. he goes to a cabin and sets things up to inject himself with silicant plasma and picture the whole thing. yeah because experiment on yourself is fine right?
the stupid woman form university goes to him however and the ape one gets to her. he doesn't kill her though but caries it away like a bounty. he scares away the local forester and he calls the same police that investigated the previous murders. The woman wakes up and starts screaming and lures the police right to the spot of the monster. hearing her scream he goes insane and puts her unconscious again. good boy. He also throws an axe and kills the forester, but not before he managed to shoot him. the effect wears off. he comes back to the cabin, finds the girl, they develop the picture and its brilliant. however he decides to go out in the forest with officers, tells about it to his friend and then injects himself again in attempt to suicide. he succeeds in turning into a monster again and the others shoot him dead. he then turns back to human form.


Story: 2/10. worlds dumbest scientist at work!
Acting: 4/10. reasonable.
Sound: 1/10. still bad.
Sci factor: 2/10. they got some things right, most wrong, and some totally idiotic.
Lasting Appeal: 4/10. well i guess you got to give him points for having the most stupid main character i have seen in my life.
Overall rating: 3/10.
