Drive in Sci-Fi: The Fly (1958) Poster2%20the%20fly

Doing this a bit backwards, but oh well. The movie is based on a Short Story by George Langelaan. the sequels also are based on the story, but it is rather loosely. Anyway, a guard finds a person killed under metal press. Then the wife that killed Andrea phones his brother and tells him about it. The guard also calls him and tell about it and then he finally believe it. So he calls in police. Police come, they recognize the body, even with head and hand crushed. then they see to see the wife. she admits to kill everyone, tells how she oes it but cant tell why she did it. The laboratory of her husband is smashed and all the equipment destroyed. no one knows what he was development. After a while they talk the wife to tell what happened. this is interesting, since we usually start with this part, where now we are learning about it though the characters that lived afterwards.
In the story the woman tells how her husband shows the new laboratory to her. her first though - portable nuclear reactor. lol. He shows how he found out a teleportation device and how it teleprots a plate. The device is very small though, no way a human would fit into it. His intentions were good. However its not perfect. It wrote letters on a plate backwards. so he returns to work. He succeeds to fix it and manages o transport newspaper correctly. just at this time a cat comes in. tada - new test subject. However the animal does not reintegrates back to life. only his sounds are left in the air. He fix the problem and sucesfully reintegrates a guinea pig. but woman is frightened by experiment. as well as rockets, satellites and every new technology. The brothers first guess is "flat screen". funny how they were trying to invent that back then. Apparently the husband has an accident, which we dont actually see, and asks her to bring milk and rum to him. When she sees his hand she freaks out. She hasnt seen his head yet even. so this is not going to end well. He thinks that going though the machine with the fly again will fix it so he wants everyone to try find the white headed fly. however she fails. when she goes to tell him she sees the face of the fly and faints. Then he goes mad and starts burning up his research, equipment too. Then he kills himself with the press. This is how her story ends.
The inspector think she is insane while the brother think she is telling the truth. Eventually they find the fly and the inspector believes him. She is still considered mad, but the husband is supposed to have suicided and she went be put in jail. and this is where we left.

Story: 9/10. well well done and told in unusual way.
Acting: 7/10. above the average acting.
Sound: 6/10. much better than usual.
Sci factor: 8/10. tangling the atoms isnt very realistic here but we can forgive that.
Lasting Appeal: 10/10. fantastic movie in this regard.
Overall rating: 8/10.
