Drive-In Sci-Fi: The Beast of Yucca Flats (1961) Beast_of_Yucca_Flats

Budget: $34,000
My estimate: $34

Quote :
Coffee-obsessed B-movie auteur Coleman Francis was unleashed upon an unsuspecting world with this standard "man becomes radioactive monster" movie rendered hilariously surreal entertainment by the soundtrack having been lost in production and replaced by nonsensical rambling narration from a drunk-sounding Francis.
First scene: a woman got strangled on the bed with weird clock ticking sound in the background. Then we go straight to a defected Russian agent going with secret information with two russian agents after him. ofc they have a shoot-out with noone doing and run away. noone says anything, only the narration tells us who is who. They dont look russian at all though. while we see a wierd car chase we are told that briefcase has the documents about mans first rocket to the moon. While they are on the way the A-bomb is being tested at Yucca flats. They happen to be in explosion range. the guy doesnt die, isntead he grabs a girl and drags her somewhere. The cops go searching for it while we hear a nonesensical narration explain us things that didnt happen. they got a good way of measuring temperature too. "a 110 in a shade, and no shade". Cops go on a rampage of shoot first ask questions later. we see a lot of shooting from helicopter. they eventually find the right mutant and shoot him. a rabbit comes to sniff his corpse but leaves after getting scared by mutant still being alive.
This is yet another short one, 53 minutes total.

Story: 1/10. A guy gets into nuclear explosion, becomes a monster and lives in a cave.
Acting: 2/10. pretty bad, but better than the story.
Sound: 0/10. The narration was awful, so was the sound effects.
Sci factor: 0/10. zero for atomic bomb explosion killer mutant. 0 for cops going on a killing rampage. 0 on a girl that was unharmed dying as soon as cops pick them up. 0 for cops climbing up a mountain half the movie then noticing the top is empty and deciding to grab a helicopter.
Lasting Appeal: 1/10. A not oversized radiation monster scientist on a run from ruskies and police hides in a mountain and gets visited by two adventurous boys.
Overall rating: 1/10.
