Marx Brothers: A Night In Casablanca (1946)

This film shouldnt have been made. The Big Store was supposed to be their last film. But since Harpo had large betting debts (as he has became addict) they made this movie to pay them. And thus this is more a routine than fun movie. However in the 5 years pause they seem to have learned some new tricks of trade.
The basic plot is hotel manadgers keep getting killed and the police and army of France try to solve the case and soon find out that nazi used to control the hotel and hid a trasure worth millions in there and are not triyng to get the control back. Of course as usual we have a nice singer ruining the show, but this time in french and a bunch of tight-up guys.
We see very little of the Brothers at first, only Chico holiding up a building, litteraly. groucho soon becomes a new manadger of hotel (coconuts anyone?) and chico is a driver of a camel (duck soup anyone?). All 3 are clearly aged. by then they all were in thier 56-59 years and it starts to show.
The movie still has some good puns, evne though they are more blunt than usual. Groucho is sitll there with his jokes "i wish you could join me" "why, are you coming apart?". Of course the old habbits stil lremain, chico plays piano, Harpo steals, Groucho tries to seduce women. Groucho has a good name as always, Mister CornBlow.
This movie is your usual Marx Brothers, you get the funtalk sequences with Groucho, the stealing and slapstick with Harpo, the chico medium and a bunch of musical scores. It doesnt deviate from the formula and why would it, it worked in the past.
The three brothers however get in trouble and get everyone else in trouble when they cheat in casino. Meanwhile the bad guys find the trasure and is trying to get away with it. However the Bros get inside the trucks and follwo them to a secret airport. steals a plane and pilots it arund. more particullary harpo does. They finally lift off and crashland into a marketplace. all alive. cargo untouched. Police gets there in time to save the day.

Rating: 8/10 good jokes most of the way, little music scenes and fun overall.
