Drive-in Sci-Fi: Monster From The Ocean Floor (1959) Monsterfromoceanfloorpo

A mexican boy tells some vacationeer about a mosnter that killed his father, however she does not believe him and goes swimming. She meets a man in a small submarine. what the hell is that thing anyway. it looks like a cocpit of a plane, except it goes underwater. that i did not expect. he gives her a ride into his ship on top of that submarine. apperently there are mroe scientists in there too. nice way to lure a poor lady in a ship full of men far offshore. she then gets exited over a microscope. its easy to excite that painter.
The scientist then goes on to tell his theory about overpopulation, lack of food and growing wheat underwater. then some guy comesi n with a boat and shouts something. the scinetist goes to check it out, but in the scenes its clear that his submarine is leaking air fast. infact we see it fill full of water. not much of a use for it is it then? Anyway, he finds and empty diving suite. discovery of the century. they assume somone got out of it underwater. how they come to that conclusion? what is it so strange to see a diving suit that could have fell off a boat or something?
Next day they go diving again and run into a giant octopus. but they jut assume octopus are "cowards" so ignore it. she gets intrested though and goes aroudn town asking questions about monsters. As soon as the girl and scientist gets in love the scientist gets orders to mve down the coast. so shes left alone to investigate the giant radiation induced octopus-monster that terrorizes the town on full moon. And soon after it shows up. Mexicans conspire to sacrifice the girl to the monster. At that they fail. even sharks dont take that. though the mexican guy does not want her dead and tries to avoid that, and he manadges to stop her from diving at least for that day. we also get a scene where the scinetist discuss the pssibilityo f mosnters existance, that is totally out of place. as soon as scinetist arrive they get called back, another unnecessary scene.
after a long sensless wandering mexican confess to have been told to kill the girl, but he cant do it. so isntead he decides to help her. things hit the fan. she sees octopus, scientists magically appear close by and come in a submarine too. scientist saves the girl but the octopus remains there. this feels like it lacks an ending.

Story: 4/10. simple there is a mosnter but noone believes it story with a sacrificial tribalism addition.
Acting: 5/10. average
Sound: 2/10. same bad sound.
Sci factor: 2/10. well the submarine was quite ridiculous glowing octopus ad once again atom bomb test results doe not make for much mostrosities.
Lasting Appeal: 4/10. giant octopus in mexica? oh yeah!
Overall rating: 3/10.
