Drive-in Sci-Fi: The Monster That Challenged The World (1957) Themonsterthatchallenge

There is a military base at salton sea, researching parachutes. didnt military had anything better to do back then? Apperently eathquake occured there and parachute jumper went lost in sea. so did the two man pickup team. Recovery team findso ne guy dead, a bunck of white goo and othet two missing. then parachute guy surfaces being dead so they get home and decide to continue searching in the morning. the commander think it could be radiation but the scientist puts him in his place. The white goo ends up being water animals secretion and the dead parachuter is drained from all blood and water. the guy on boat died from stroke, and they assume tis from fear. guess back then medicide wasnt that far up hehe.
They quarantine the beach instantly and scientists continue to work. so far decisions are well done. accidentally they find out the white goo is radiactive. we were wrong all along, it is radiactive!
But as always stupid kids go out to the beach and goes swimming. Obviuosly they get eaten. Kid finds their clothes and shows the military. They go diving and find some large white ball that is guarded by some monstrosity. they also find the third guy underwater. The monster that looks like a giant worm climbs to attack them but gets killed. so they take the monsters egg back to the labaratory, not a very smart move. They go in search for other eggs to destroy, ok they manadged to bail themself out of ridicule. after they seem to kill everything the scientists figure that there may be more mollusks like those, oh wait mollusks? all i saw was a giant worm. anyway the scientist believe it could take over the wold within couple years so they put in shore patrol in order to catch it leaving Salton Sea. but two attacks happen in different locations at same time and they figure to mention there is underwater river from the Salton Sea to water pools. they go across the land in search for the river on thmeself and we see signs like "all american canal" and "property of corporation xxx" on the road. were those real? i mean what the hell.
Then a stupid girl that secretary takes to work with her turns on the heat on the tank and the monster in labaratory hatches. no wonder they made no kids at work rule. They think they have killed all the giant snails (because thats what it looks like now) but the one in labaratory gets loose. The secretary and the kid hides in a closet, oh why couldnt they die, they are so annoying. eventually the good commander comes and they kill the bastard. poor snail didnt got to eat.

Very histeric fright scene from the movie when the guy in the boat dies of fright:

Story: 8/10. Well it was pretty good actually. not your typical story.
Acting: 3/10. Bellow nominal.
Sound: 2/10. The usual bad music, but the snall had the wierdset sound, when it was breathing it was like whooosh whooosh whooosh.
Sci factor: 9/10. As far as science in this movie, it was pretty well though out. something this movie can realyl be proud of.
Lasting Appeal: 6/10. Giant snails attacking? not easy to forget.
Overall rating: 6/10.
