Drive in Sci-Fi: The Deadly Mantis (1957) Thedeadlymantis

We get third newtowns law reminder and then radar gets all the blame for global warming. i mean come on! you cant evne heat a thing that is attacked to a radar emiter, no way its going to melt ice in there. something attacks the furthest north radar outpost and the military is trying to figure out what is happening. so far nthing suspiciuos excelt that outpost is trashed and men are gone. The next outposts finds something on radar an sounds red alarm. finally some decisive correct actions from military. the whole chain of command gets involved and the pentagon calls in some scientists. from that point terrible sound rush starts. you hear things 2-3 seconds before you see them. this is so annoying. in order to figure what it is they found near the ruined base and big looking glass helps the doctor to determine anything it needs. eventually we find out its insect. With some "Assumpions" they figure its a deadly mantis that eats flesh. Then we see eskimos trying to escape by swiming in what looks like an endless stream of eskimos and dogs. then the mantis "falls" on the eskimo and we are suppsoed to think he ate it. the officers in alaska get really exited about woman coming in along with them. one even gets to comment "a female woman, i though they stopped making them".
The mantis attacks the scientists just as they are discussing where it could come from. apperently machinegun and flamethrower doesnt work. the mantis is fireproof! the mantis however takes off and dissapears. the jets cant find it. and why would they, it attacks ship on which peopel seem to talk italian. the jets finally find him and shoot rockets. they hit 3 times but rockets jut dissapear intisde the mosnter (bad effects?) and mosnter starts falling. they say its a kill and return home, stupid stupid pilots. them antis isnt dead, it simply initiated evasive manuovers.
The mantis keeps wrecking havoc while hiding in fog and once it hits the bus they get it. the police personel tells military to go home "you may as well go home, there are no bodies here". has to be one of the worst lines in cinematic history. the mantis attacks washington monument. why we never know.
the new plan is to attack mantis to drive it into the ocean. yeah because if it wrecks havoc in europe its ok. we see more chit chat form military than actual action. that is good because we see a mantis module being pulled in the scenery and then planes flying and thats about all the "Action". but the mantis instead decides to go to new york.
they manadge to trpa it into the tunel and wound it. they use smoke to do something to it. oh wait its to make mantis blind. so they go in and attack it in there.... giant creature, closed dark space withl imited sight, oh are they in trouble now. Altrough mantis makes a lot of noise they are still making a walk in there. they decide to use simple waepons again, even though it did not work before. Eventually they use granades, the mantis dies and smoke instantly dissapears. but the mantis isnt dead and attempts to kill the photographer. but fails. the characters fall in love and thats it.

Story: 5/10. Wasnt as bad as most of the "radiation" flock but wasnt something great with this radar heat either.
Acting: 3/10. i would have to say, they oculd have done better.
Sound: 0/10. out of sync, terrible creature sounds, once agian the terrible music.
Sci factor: 5/10. well besides the radar thing it was pretty good on that departament.
Lasting Appeal: 2/10. another "giant bug attacks" movie.
Overall rating: 3/10.
