Drive-In Sci-Fi: The Crawling hand (1963) Thecrawlinghandmoviepos

for opening titles we et fireworks in space near a weird looking astronaut that appears to be frozen (but moves a little as he gets uncomfortable so its not a carboard). apparently its the second man that is returning from the moon and are about to die due to lack of oxygen. They lost 2 of 6 men that are capable to do that. and blame it on mental breakdown due to solitude. why not send two men then. nasa managed with 4 easily. The astronaut finally makes contact and looks utterly mad while functioning without oxygen for 20 minutes. he asks them to "push the red button" that destroys the craft. and they do it. they kill their own man and craft that is probably the greatest discovery in the movie. and they just decide to bomb it based on a crazy astronaut asking for it. very great choices ech. They of course then just go to explain that the germs and bacteria around in spaceship exposed to cosmos radiation mutated into new life form that took over the control of astronaut. Then we follow a coupel of scientist that seems to ofc have romantic interest. They go swimming and find a hand of that astronaut washed on the shore. the girl screens so loud my computer speakers explode. after i get to replace them the girl is screaming to get her out of here, well she has foot, use it bitch. The guy on the other hand brings the hand back to his lab. its not usual of them to report it to police or anything.
Meanwhile, back in the base, the scientists who actually do science discover that the rat that was in space too has enormous capabilities of unlocking his own cave or choosing which other rats to kill. so they decide that there is a entity controlling him.
Then we see the hand come alive and strangle the old lady at the lab. finally the guy calls the police and it goes on full investigation. nice finally a decent police in these movies. the hand then attacks the guy. he lives though and the hand goes away. police gets the prints and ties it to the astronaut. but the space agency doesnt tell them nothing. instead they go in search after the dead astronaut, not knowing its only a hand thats moving.
next up the boy turns into monster and brakes his tape recorder. oh noes! He manages to control it and shoes everyone away. the two spaceship agency scientist find the stuff all over the house though, however at this point the police doesnt believe them about it. he attacks a guy at the local dinner bar but the music machine saves him blocking the monstrous control. hey, they did it before attack of the martians. however the solution is templorary and he visits his girlfriend. as the monster starts to take over he attacks her and she once again does a terrible scream. but he doesnt kill her as her grandfather interrupts. When he goes home he manages to capture the evil hand and put it in his trunk. The hand manages to escape though into what looks like a field of metal scraps. he eventually catches up and.... wow... we got a strange scene with two cats fighting.... which nas no impact whatsoever... then police arrives. the hand dies, the boy is saved and we are out of the trouble. but oh the horror they let the hand loose in the end....

Story: 5/10. pretty good storytelling and the characters were at least a bit interesting.
Acting: 4/10. not the greatest but better than usual
Sound: 3/10. terrible overall but have to give it a 3 due to the sound machine in the bar.
Sci factor: 1/10. very little of that.
Lasting Appeal: 3/10. i dont know, doesnt strike as a terribly big movie to me.
Overall rating: 3/10.
