Drive in Sci-Fi: The Blob (1958) Theblobo

Beware of the blob!
I'm sure most of you are more familiar with the 1988 version But this, 1958, is where it all started. a bucket of jelly has spawned quote a following. So i guess it was only fair i visit it even though it is considered a Horror movie and not a Sci-fi movie.
A couple of teenagers are making out in a car and the girl doesn't want to go to far. They see a shooting star, a meteorite and decide to chase after it. Meanwhile a local old man living in the forest cabin goes to explore the object falling from the sky as well. He finds a small crater and something that looks like a rock in the middle of it. I probably should mention that in the original this is an alien creature, while the 1988 remake has converted it into government experiment. the old man accidentally gets the creature on his hand and cant take it off. The young couple finds the ld man and drives him to the doctor. Apparently the thing hurts like hell. The doctor gives man a sedative and this seems to kill the pain at least for a while. He asks them to drive back and see if anyone knows what happened to him. The local jocks show up and "race him backwards" to the light. He makes fun of them but the police officer show up and wants to find out what's right. But they end up just with a conversation. The jocks decide to help them search about what happens for covering them from the police officer.
meanwhile the doctor sees the parasite moving and eating the old mans arm. he wants to amputate the arm and calls his assistant to come. The thing completely eats the old man. They decide chlorocidic acid could eat him but it doesn't work. Neither does the gun. It eats the assistant because she is unable to run out of fright.
The kids go to the police, the police believes them for once. But they find doctors house completely empty. they find a mess of things however. The land lady goes out and tell police nothing have happened and the doctor is out on convention. she is obnoxious. So the police drops the case and the blob is out running free. They call in thier parents and they drag them home. One officer has his doubts however.
The kids decide to go out and look for themselves since noone believes they saw what they saw. They do reason pretty well as to why they have to do it. meanwhile the blob consumes the townfolk under the cover of night. The kids eventually make whole town awake but police tell them all to go home again. however they dont blame the kids for the nuisance.
Then we reach that landmark scene of blob attacking a cinema theatre. The famous run out of theatre that is mimicked even nowadays. Everyone runs wherever as the blob goes out in the streets. The police plan - drop a power line on the thing. The kids manage to run and hide in a diner, that is now merged in the blob so its dangerous for them too. The plan doesnt work and the diner goes on fire inside the blob. The people inside trying to put out the fire and use a CO2 extinguisher and find out accidentally that BLOB is afraid of CO2. They manage to tell that to police officer outside via somehow still working phone. They pick up all fire extinguishers they can find and attack the blob. They succeed to freeze it and send it out to Antarctica so it would never de-freeze.

Story: 10/10. wery well played out. i applaud the writers.
Acting: 7/10. not perfect but pretty good, especially by the main cast.
Sound: 5/10. this is the problem with many movies of its time but at least it had a theme song thats cool too.
Sci factor: 10/10. not sure about alien being indestructible but they sure didnt do anything wrong in this departament at least.
Lasting Appeal: 10/10. a great movie to watch.
Overall rating: 8/10.
