Drive in Sci-Fi: The Alligator People (1959) Thealligatorpeople1959m

A young woman gets hipnotized to clear up her memory. but the Hypnosis is introduced by some sort of drug. She tells a story of her life to two psychiatrist. She starts with not being sure whether she is or was married. And so we begin.
A newly married couple rides on a train. The husband gets a telegram and gets off in a station to make a phone call. The train leaves without him and she never sees him again. She tried everything but couldn't find him.
Then years later she asks to be taken to some plantation out in the swamp. The owner wants to throw her out and pretend she doesn't know anything about her husband, but since the train wont be till tomorrow, they let her stay for the night. We can see something suspicious is happening and so can the woman, but she dont know what really happen. we see a laboratory under the house and some person, that is number 6 is sedated. It does look like they want to help them and not abuse them. The woman confront the doctor in there and tells him he wants to hide something. But he gets out of her trap without telling anything.
Eventually she confronts the woman and she vreaks down crying claiming she was Pauls (thats the guys name) mother. Eventually she sees her husband but the husband runs away into the forest. She runs after but is stopped by a local worker. First thing he does is make her drunk. And then he tries to rape her. She screams and he hits her in the face, shes knocked out cold. Not many movies where you see someone punch a girl in the face. Then a guy with totally damages face attacks the drunkard rapist. turns out that guy is Paul. He brings back the woman home, while she is still unconscious. He goes to the scientist and ask to help him with cobalt that he received recently. The doctor promises "tomorrow night".He also tells everything to the girl and experiments on an alligator. Apparently the doctor found a cure to kill crash victims, but it has left people who were treated to have alligator skin. And Paul got a worst of them all. They are all slowly turning into alligators.
The next night the woman sees her husband, but he says he'd rather die than be ugly. God were these people crazy about looks. They go on with the experiment on him. But the drunkard barges in and attacks everyone inside because of his hate for alligators. This result in overdose of radiation and Paul turning into total alligator. Then he accidentally kills himself by taking hold of the electricity cable. the woman who just 1 minute ago screamed she does not care about his looks now scream in terror and he alligator humanoid runs away into the swamp. Eventually the swamp swallows him and so he dies.
This is where the hypnosis ends. The doctors decide not to tell her about the hypnosis session and let her live a life in withrawal.

Story: 10/10. got to admit, this was a very logical and interesting story.
Acting: 5/10. not superb but the mother certainly did a good job.
Sound: 3/10. regularly bad.
Sci factor: 8/10. the scientific part of doctors story was a bit far fetched but completely logical. since this is a movie we will assume he was able to find a gene that told the body to grow back parts and use it on humans. After all, movies does make implausible things possible.
Lasting Appeal: 7/10. i really enjoyed this one.
Overall rating: 7/10.
